We have been serving you since 1934. We have been fortunate enough to have worked with many talented artists and designers over the years. Combined with our customers they have made ‘Get a Guru’ an interesting place to hang out. We started handmade soap in 1999, it was an instant hit and thanks to our many loyal customers, technology and soap addicts, we now sell as much soap online as we do in our store. GetaGuru handmade soap

is great for eczema, psoriasis, acne and balancing skin ph because all our soap is cold processed.  Completely handmade from scratch using Extra Virgin olive oil, Pomace olive oil, coconut oil, Palm oil and a whole variety of 100% pure essential oils.

We will be adding a few new lines over the coming months so please subscribe, like us on Facebook and stay in the GetaGuru loop. Its our 80th year at the Tarpon Springs Sponge docks and it’s going to be a good one.

  1. I love your soap !!!! I have tried handmade soaps from local Mennonites to other shops in NC and AL and none compare. I was starting to feel that homemade soaps were not worth it until I tried your soap. It is the real thing. Honestly there is NO other homemade or even commercial soap for that matter that comes close. I will continue to use your soap as long as I can get it. Thank you
    In my opinion you have the best oils too. Like your soap your oils keep their fragrance until they are gone. I have wasted so much money on cheap oils only to find they do not smell good when you use them and I end up throwing them away. I take a small cast iron pan and put a drop of your oils in the pan on our wood stove in the winter and the whole house smells awesome. I burn them under a candle in the summer. the fragrance is not too overbearing and smells like it is labeled and not some random indescribable smell.

  2. Your soap is the best I have ever used. I hate commercial soap and how it makes me feel after a shower. I’ve tried liquid soap but it is just as bad. I love your soap it is awesome.

  6. I thought I one day would buy items containing “sustainable palm oil. Even when mixed with lye, the oil retains its solid state. It can also help to make a truly moisturizing soap.

    1. It’s an ongoing process. we are always learning and tweaking our recipes. always trying to make the perfect bar of soap or the perfect combination of scents or massage oils.

  8. I LOVE THIS SOAP!!! I’ve passed by Get a Guru many times but never went inside. On one of my recent visits back to FL I decided to go in just for the heck of it. I’m soooo glad I did! I bought one bar of soap and ended up going back to get more for my family and friends back home. Get a Guru soap is truly amazing. It doesn’t make me break out which is a BIG plus and it really does make my skin silky smooth. Another thing I love about it is that it keeps my hands from getting dry and cracking during the winter where other soaps and lotions have failed. I love all of the Get a Guru products I’ve tried and I will DEFINITELY continue to buy from them in the future! 🙂

  10. First there’s a reason they call me porkchop. I ain’t little. I live in the mountains of east tennesee and I went to Clearwater to try deep sea fishing. Don’t like it I got sick. I usually don’t write things but I went to a little fishing town and we saw a hippy shop I didn’t want to go into. My wife and kids went in and came out with bars of soap. I was pissed they cost more than my Irish spring but the damage was done.
    We got home and I used the soap and I have to admit it smelled good and not fruity like fancy soaps. I probably shouldn’t say this but I work hard and sweat and have an itch in areas I won’t say. I put an expensive skin cream around there and it has never worked. I noticed I swear that after I used the soap one time my itching went away no lie. I have been using it and honest to gosh the itching is gone. I’m still using the soap and I don’t have to pay for high cost skin conditioner any more. Two more things is I never wear colone it’s a wast of money. I love my wife but I have had some women say for the first time I can remember I smell good. One other thing is I like to hunt and I swear I can showere with this soap and I had never spooked a deer or coyote I believe the stuff in the soap is natural and not foreign i don’t know it just works. I’ve had homemade soap befor that ain’t worth crap. This soap is worth it no doubt. Can you guys make underarm deodeant. Degree is the only thing that works but I bet y’all can make somthing better.   14. My bar of rose soap is almost gone. I want more and want to ask: Is the rose oil organic therapeutic grade and not distilled with solvents? The rose oil I buy is $200 for 5ml from YL-if you want to compare use my distributor #1161337. Thanks

  17. Since 1998 I have been plagued with dry skin following uterine cancer surgery and 3 months of radiation therapy. My skin was scaly and itchy, particularly on my calves. In August 2013 my girlfriend and I were on a road trip and stopped overnight in Tarpon Springs. We stumbled upon your soap shop, Get A Guru and for the next hour sampled and smelled your hand made soaps made with olive oil. We even came back the next morning and bought more before leaving Tarpon Springs for another destination. I have bought many organic soaps from health food stores but never found one that would really allow my skin to retain the moisture found in the soap for more than an hour or so. Your soap does just that and I am so impressed with the results. Even my husband has noticed! Keep up the good work. I would love it if you would share a few basic recipes occasionally for your followers.

    1. I am very pleased that you discovered our soap and it helped you so much. We are always delighted when our soap helps people with their skin issues. I hope that one day we will get a chance to share recipes and most importantly our process. We have a high demand and very few people who can make the soap to the standard that we demand.
