Home made soaps have always fascinated us. Our family business has been at the Sponge Docks, Tarpon Springs, Florida since 1934. Our Great Grandfather started  the business when he bought himself a small boat and started Sponge diving. After all he was in Florida and loved the Sea. Sponge diving was his way to relax and unwind. Soon he bought a small store to sell his Sponge. For years he sold various bounty pulled direct from the sea. It was not until nearly 40 years later that we started importing Olive oil soap from Greece as it seemed work well with sponge.

What has always interested us as a family are products that are made by hand. More precisely “home made products”. We love folk art and crafts that have been essential to the development of civilization. My Grandfather was a master at making anything from whatever was available. Over what is getting on for 80 years we have always made all kinds of arts and crafts and have had the privilege of working with some incredible characters with amazing talents.

One of our favorite products at the moment is our homemade soap. We make it the same way soap has been made all over the world for hundreds of years. We make the soap in small batches using only the best ingredients; Olive oil, coconut oil, organic palm oil, essential oils to produce the finest scent from around the world.

There is something incredible about making something by hand the same way that our ancestors did. I totally recommend that you find yourself a project, maybe an everyday item and have a go at making it yourself. Go on give it a go. Best wishes GetaGuru.
